His respect for Brandy soared. She’d stood her ground where most women would have melted under Clarice’s attack. For the first time in his life, he’d seen his sister-in-law with her mouth open and nothing coming out.

“Come on, champ.” He put his arm around Brandy’s shoulder, leading her from the waiting room. “Lily’s folks are officially home. Our job’s finished.”

“Then I’m ready for the biggest burger and shake I can find.”

“Good idea.” Gavin pushed the elevator button. He loved his brother, and would do anything for him, but it felt good to have the responsibility lifted from his shoulders. “I’m buying.”
